Due to recent events, we have seen an upsurge in enquiries for event insurance for Art Fairs, particularly to provide insurance for cancellation costs due to the Coronavirus.

Insurance polices offer cover for unknown or fortuitous events and as the Coronavirus is a “known event” cover is subsequently excluded.

If you have an annual or short term event policy that was taken out prior to the Coronavirus outbreak, there is a possibility that there is cover in place. Insurers offer cover for cancellation by Communicable Disease but this is usually an extension that incurs an additional premium. If you did not pay the premium when you bought the policy it is unlikely that any coverage will be in place.
